Numbers on the trees correspond to the geologic periods listed below at Triassic Park:

0- Pre-Cambrian: Mainly microscopic life.

1- Cambrian: Quartzite with worm tube trace fossils (Martin's Limestone; Honey Brook Quarry)

2- Ordovician: Limestone from the Beekmantown Formation (Martin's Limestone; Burkholder Quarry) Most limestone is formed from the remains of marine animals

3- Silurian:

4- Devonian: Shale from Deer Lake, PA with mainly shell fossils.

5- Carboniferous: 5a: Mississippian 5b: Pennsylvanian: Coal fossils, stems, and bark of ancient trees.

6- Permian:

7- Triassic: Most of the rocks in this park are Triassic in age. French Creek Mine spoils: French Creek Mines minerals

8- Jurassic: Mud cracks in stone

9- Cretaceous: Spoils from the Inversand Pit in NJ,  Inversand pit Mosasaur teeth

Crataceous

10- Tertiary: Microfossils from Vincentown, NJ. Along the Rancocas Creek (South branch) just North of Vincentown many very small fossils can be found in the bank of the creek.

Tertiary

11- Quaternary: Fossils from Aurora, NC phosphate pit. There are shark's teeth, shells, coral, bone, & skates.
