Rosetta Stone Recreation: Large size about 10 3/4 inches tall by 8 1/2 inches wide (resin cast). This stone has three languages on it, Egyptian hieroglyphics, Demotic, and Greek. This stone was key in the decipherment of Egyptian hieroglyphics by Champollion in 1822. It was made in 196 BC and discovered by the French in 1799 at Rosetta, Egypt. The text on the stone is a decree by Ptolemy V repealing certain taxes, and for the building of statues for the temples.
