Assurnasirpal II Statue Replica (resin cast). Height: 11 inches by Length: 3 inches by Width: 3 inches. Assurnasirpal (sometimes Ashurnasirpal) II, Assyrian King and General from 883-859 BC.
Assurnasirpal's conquests laid the foundations for the vast Assyrian Empire, which would grow in the next two centuries to encompass all the lands from the Persian Gulf in the east to Egypt in the west. His predecessors had struggled to build an army and reestablish control of Assyria's homeland in northern Iraq. Ashurnasirpal first consolidated their gains, campaigning in the northern and eastern mountains and down the Euphrates River to create a ring of security around Assyria.
