Morgan Crusader's Bible: photographic reproduction of one page from I Samuel 15:35-16:11 mounted in a 12 by 16 inch frame. Samuel goes to Bethlehem to talk to Jesse to anoint one of his son's as the new king. Bottom right, David is on a hill tending the sheep. This is one of the most beautiful and elegant Gothic manuscripts in existence. This picture Bible was commissioned by Louis IX of France in 1240. John Pierpont Morgan bought the book in 1916, and it is now in the Pierpont Morgan Library in New York City.
