Chariots of the Gods? written by Erich Von Daniken in 1970 became a bestseller. I remember seeing a special on TV about it. Some things seemed so believable, but after close investigation they all fall apart. For example, he has a Mayan picture that looks like a man in a space ship. It was not until I attended a Mayan seminar and learned about Mayan hieroglyphics and art, did I understand how far off Von Daniken was. Von Daniken claims the Nazca lines are were space ships landed, but these lines are small and the ground is very uneven making it impossible for a run way. These lines were probably used as a calendar by the Indians. See an astronomical calendar! Von Daniken claims that the Ark of the Covenant was a transmitter that Moses used to communicate with aliens, but the Ark is just wood overlaid with gold not a transmitter see Exodus 25:10-22.
