Arlton Murray working for the Smithsonian was sent out West to find
fossils. |
Bones were scattered all over the area. A fossil fish is located. |
Dirt and rock are dug out from around the fossil. Then a plaster jacket
is put on the fossil to preserve it during shipment back to the Smithsonian. |
The fossil is then packed in a crate for shipment back to the museum. |
Arlton Murray takes a break under the hot sun. |
At the Smithsonian Arlton Murray removes the plaster and dirt from
the fossil Ichthyosaur. |
The Ichthyosaur is mounted for display. |
